Ideamaker Films is a film production company located in Toronto, Canada.

Joanna Tsanis is an award-winning writer and filmmaker. She wrote and produced Eleftheromania (2018), a WWII-era short film starring Academy Award Winner Olympia Dukakis. The film has screened in several festivals worldwide, including Raindance Film Festival in London, UK. Joanna won the ‘Best Short Screenplay’ award at Mindfield Film Festival in Los Angeles and the ‘Best Drama’ award at Toronto Shorts International Film Festival. She recently wrote and directed a short horror film titled Imagine A World (2019). The film is now in post-production.

Formerly a comic book critic for the Toronto Standard, Joanna has a varied history with storytelling. She has produced numerous branded videos, both animated and live-action. Her branded documentary short Girls Helping Girls screened at Carnegie Hall in New York City for the 2017 Gabby Awards.

When she’s not writing stories, Joanna manages The CS Film Hub, an initiative she developed for Ryerson University that funds and supports student filmmakers’ projects. Joanna is also director of The Chang Film Festival, an alumni film festival at Ryerson University.

Joanna is a grant recipient of the 2018 Nick Mirkopoulos Canadian Content Initiative (Cinespace Film Studios).
